Scottish Leftists Fail To Stop Jerusalem Ensemble Music

Scottish protestors interrupted a musical performance by the Jerusalem Ensemble at the Edinburgh International Festival, but the audience concluded the event with a standing ovation, the Scotsman reported. The protesters interrupted the music five times, standing one after the other and denouncing the "Israeli army musicians" before they were arrested.

Hugh Kerr, a former member of the European Union Parliament, said he has pro-Arab views but that the effect of the protestors conduct "was totally counterproductive." The Scotsman's music critic, Susan Nickalls, wrote, "The audience had come to hear an uncontroversial program of Brahms, Smetana and Haydn, not the views of political activists."
