The Fatah party has maintained steady support in the latest popularity poll of Arabs in Judea, Samaria and Gaza. Fatah leads with the backing of 43 percent of the respondents, compared with 29 percent for Hamas.
If elections were held today, Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas would defeat Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh by a margin of 14 percent, virtually the same gap that has separated them in previous polls.
