Israel Ready To Trust UNIFIL in Border Village

The Olmert administration has reversed its policy against withdrawing forces from the village of Ghajar at the Lebanese border and has agreed to discuss allowing United Nations Interim Forces (UNIFIL) to patrol there following Lebanese approval. The international border divides the village, and the IDF occasionally patrols on the Lebanese side.

The move comes several days after more reports citing the failure of UNIFIL to stop the Hizbullah army from re-establishing itself its underground bunker system throughout southern Lebanon.
