The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), the main militant group in Nigeria's oil-producing south, said in an e-mail published by Reuters that it withdrew its offer to help locate a kidnapped Israel after IsraelNationalNews.com described the group as "terrorist." MEND said the hostage "has been located and seems to be a diabetic patient."

Baruch Gordon, Director of English Media for Israel National News, said: "After consultation with diplomatic sources, IsraelNationalNews.com has decided to remove the reference to the militant group in Niger as 'terrorist.' While there may be no credibility to the threat published in Reuters, as long as there is a possibility that this change will help free the Israeli, we are happy to comply."
