The chairman of the leftist Meretz party, MK Chaim Oron, said Wednesday that with the death of Abie Nathan, "we have lost a man of peace, a trailblazer who pierced hearts."

MK Yossi Beilin of Meretz said: "I salute the courage of Abie Nathan, who by being willing to risk himself cleared the path for others and proved that only he who has the courage to talk to the other side and break old and superfluous taboos, can reach accomplishments."
