Jerusalem police Monday disclosed that two weeks ago they arrested seven residents of the Shuafat community in northern Jerusalem for allegedly kidnapping children and taking them to Judea and Samaria. A Jewish man also was arrested for allegedly selling ammunition to the Arab kidnapping ring.
The suspects' modus operandi was to disguise themselves as Palestinian Authority policemen and then take children to Ramallah for questioning. Police cited one instance in which the kidnappers took children of a single mother to Ramallah until their mother agreed to allowing the rights of family visits.
