NASA Technology Helps to Put Dead Scrolls in Data Bank

The Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA), using technology developed by a NASA scientist, is documenting tens of thousands of scroll fragments that are preserved in the State’s archive and will establish an Internet databank accessible by the public.

The Dead Sea Scrolls are the oldest Hebrew record of the Old Testament ever found. A press conference on Wednesday will display technology that includes color and infrared photography, which will make it possible for the first time to read scroll fragments that could not be seen until now.
