Interior Minister Meir Sheetrit warned, during the Sunday morning Cabinet meeting, that there will be "economic chaos in Israel" if government ministers do not approve the 2009 budget proposed by fellow Kadima Finance Minister Ronnie Bar-On.
Sheetrit added that it would be "irresponsible" not to approve the budget, and said that whoever is elected to lead the party will be able to make changes to the budget later on, a comment that echoes a remark made last week by rival Kadima chairmanship candidate and fellow minister, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.
