The Jordanian Foreign Ministry summoned Israel's ambassador in Amman, Yakov Rosen, earlier this week, and demanded that Israel "cease harming Islam's holy sites" in Jerusalem. The demand singled out the excavations and renovation on the Temple Mount, according to Israel's Foreign Ministry spokesman.
Jordan's Foreign Minister Salah Al-Bashir met with members of the Jordanian parliament's Committee of Arab and International Affairs Thursday and updated them on the content of the talk with Rosen. The committee chairman Muhammad Abu Hadib said after the meeting that the Temple Mount digs contravene the terms of the Israeli-Jordanian peace treaty.
