The office of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Wednesday evening that Interior Minister Meir Sheetrit still has not agreed to allowing more than 7,000 members of India's Bnei Menashe community to move to Israel, despite earlier reports that clearance has been given.
The Interior Minister, who is privately being backed by Prime Minister Olmert to replace him as leader of Kadima and head of the government, said last year that Israel should not try to find "lost tribes because I won't let them in any more." He added, "Let them go to America."
