Medvedev Calls Olmert for Long Talk

(IsraelNN.com) Russian President Dmitri Medvedev called Prime Minister Ehud Olmert Wednesday evening and the two had a long telephone conversation. Observers said the call was a attempt to defuse the tension in relations between Israel and Russia following the fighting between Russia and Georgia.

Olmert and Medvedev reportedly discussed "bilateral and regional subjects," including the Georgian conflict, the Middle East and Syrian President Assad's visit to Russia Thursday.
