Defense Minister Ehud Barak warned Wednesday evening against any reduction in the defense budget. Speaking at the memorial service for the Golani Brigade's fallen soldiers, Barak said: "Two years after the war, one year after [the] Winograd [Report] and a few months after we wrapped up the multi-year plan and the Brodet Report in the cabinet, we must not harm the security budget."
"We as leaders are committed to the country's citizens," he said. "It is an unwritten contract between any leadership and its citizens and I, we, intend to fulfill our end of the contract."
