Nine people were arrested during Sunday afternoon's demonstration in Jerusalem against the government's closure last month of the Jewish Agency for Israel aliyah offices in Ethiopia.
Protestors attempted to block a junction while calling on the government to allow members of the Falash Mura community to immigrate to Israel. The Falash Mura are descended from Jews who converted generations ago to Christianity. Many have voluntarily remained Christian and have expressed no desire to return to the Judaism of their forefathers, a point that Ethiopian Jews in Israel vehemently cite in their own objections to allowing members of this community to immigrate to the Jewish State.
