Gush Katif Museum to Open This Week

A new museum dedicated to Gush Katif will open in Jerusalem this Tuesday, displaying the history of Gaza, the establishment of Jewish communities there, and their destruction by the Sharon-Olmert government during the 2005 disengagement. The museum will feature works of art and other productions by residents of Gush Katif. “We see the opening of the museum in Jerusalem as an important development, which will enable future generations to understand what transpired there and to draw lessons from it,” the museum said in a statement. The museum, at Rechov Shaarei Tzedek 5, will be open daily from 1 PM to 8 PM (9 AM to 1 PM Fridays). For reservations, call 02-6254456, or 054-7381313.

Dr. Yoel Elitzur, a resident of Ofra and a professor at Hebrew University, has composed a special kina, mourning prayer for Tisha B'av, on the destruction of Gush Katif. The kina (in Hebrew) can be found at http://www.inn.co.il/News/News.aspx/178361
