The Kadima party caucus Monday rejected a proposal by Knesset Speaker Dalia Itzik and party election campaign chairman, Knesset Member Tzachi HaNegbi that leadership candidates pledge to remain in the party if they lose the race. The defeat spared Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, who previously refused to vow to remain in the party if she does not win the primaries next month.
Her aides explained she refused to make a loyalty pledge because she is so sure she will win, making a vow is unnecessary.
