Iranian officials said Monday that the Islamic Republic has tested a new, sea-based missile with a range of 300 kilometers, or 186 miles.
Gen. Mohammad Ali Jafari, commander of the Revolutionary Guards paramilitary unit, called the new weapon "unique in the world" but refused to reveal when or where the weapon was tested.
In July, Iran tested missiles and torpedoes in the Persian Gulf, and Tehran claims it has tested a Shahab missile with a range of 2,012 kilometers, or 1,250 miles.
