Seven members of the Bahai faith have confessed to spying for Israel, the Iranian newspaper Resalat reported Sunday. By coincidence, the United States House of Representatives last week passed a resolution condemning the persecution of the Bahais in Iran.

The group was detained in May, and the newspaper claimed its members "set up an illegal organization with connections to a number of countries including Israel and they have received orders from them to undertake measures against the Islamic system."

Kit Bigelow, Director of External Affairs for the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of the U.S., said last week that there has been an escalation of attacks against Bahais in Iran, including arson attacks on homes and vehicles.
