A Sydney-based advocates group for Gaza Arabs has blamed Australia for the killing in Gaza Friday of Akram al Masri, who returned to Gaza after being denied asylum by the Australian government. Al Masri was killed in fighting between Gaza terrorist clans.
He had arrived in Australia in 2001 and asked for asylum, but the government decided to send him to a detention camp. He left the following year, saying he preferred the dangers of Gaza over the conditions of detention. A federal judge eventually ordered his release from the detention camp, but al Masri already had returned to Gaza.
