Abbas Says He Offered 'One Jerusalem' with Two Capitals

Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas claimed in Egypt on Monday that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert turned down an offer that Jerusalem would remain a united city but the seat of two capitals, Voice of Israel government radio reported. He said that Israel and PA would share the city as their capitals.

Under his proposed plan, Jerusalem would technically remain unified but would consist of two municipalities. At the same time he said that the PA will not concede "one inch" of sovereignty over eastern Jerusalem.
