Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told a Kadima caucus meeting Monday afternoon he will fire "any minister who will not vote according to coalition decisions." He issued the threat several hours after Shas caucus chairman Ya'akov Margi warned his party might vote with the Opposition against the government in no-confidence motions this week.
Shas has left open the option for the government to allow its demand for restoration of cuts in child support payments. An absolute majority of 61 Knesset Members is needed to topple the government, and the Opposition fell only 11 votes short of the mark last week.
