The Knesset approved Wednesday a bill that would grant small hareidi-religious high-school yeshivas an exemption from having to teach "core studies" including mathematics, English and civics.
The vote was added to the Knesset plenum's agenda at the last minute in what appears to be a parliamentary maneuver intended to catch the bill's opponents unawares, and will probably be voted upon in the second and third readings later today.
