The Knesset approved in a preliminary reading Wednesday a bill that would increase the punishment for people who attack security guards in sport events, shopping centers, local authorities, banks and entertainment venues. The law would make punishment for such attacks identical to the punishment for attacks against police officers and public servants.
In several severe attacks against security guards that occurred in the last two years, two guards were killed and others were seriously wounded.
