Israel's Knesset passed a clean-air act Tuesday, calling it the "Clean-Air for Israel" act.
The act, Israel's first ever large-scale air quality bill, was proposed earlier by the State's Environmental Protection agency, and passed with the support of activists around the country. Environmentalists have long pushed for such a measure, and have staged multiple demonstrations demanding it, such as last May's in Haifa which drew thousands of participants.
