State Prosecutor Moshe Lador told reporters Monday afternoon that that he will act as quickly as possible to complete compiling the evidence against Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and hand over the file to Attorney General Menachem Mazuz, who will be responsible for deciding whether to charge the Prime Minister or drop the charges. Channel Two television reported Monday night that Lador's recommendation will be made within two weeks.
American businessman Morris Talansky, who so far has been the key witness, faces one more day of cross-examination by Prime Minister Olmert's lawyers. They succeeded on Monday in showing that Talansky is confused and issued contradictory statements, but it also became clearer that hundreds of thousands of dollars were transferred to the Prime Minister and his lawyer and friend Uri Messer.
