Three Jewish men from the four-family outpost of Asael in Judea will remain in custody until a probation officer files evaluations in their case, the Supreme Court ruled Sunday. The three are charged with grievous assault of an Arab who set their fields on fire two weeks ago.
A lower court ruled last week that the three could leave jail and remain under house arrest outside of Judea and Samaria. The prosecution appealed the decision and demanded that they be remanded until their trial ends. The judge ruled that "the grave circumstances do not justify freeing [the defendants] without a thorough evaluation by the Parole Service."
With the three men under arrest, there is only one man left to guard Asael.
