The fellow soldiers of kidnapped IDF Cpl. Gilad Shalit are ending their mandatory military service at the end of this week, but do not plan to abandon their comrade. The 2005 recruitment group, now "graduating," is planning to send a letter to Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert demanding more action to free Shalit. They will also march to the IDF's main base, the Kirya, in Tel Aviv on Tuesday and end the demonstration with a rally in Rabin Square.
"We are being released today – when will he be?" reads the letter. "Among us was a soldier named Gilad Shalit… You, Mr. Olmert, agreed to negotiate with our worst enemies, agreed to free vile murderers so that the Regev and Goldwasser families can find closure and have a grave to visit. The next moral debt lies in a dark dungeon south from here… "
