(IsraelNN.com) Egyptian-brokered negotiations for the release of kidnapped IDF Cpl. Gilad Shalit are set to resume this week between Israel and Hamas terrorists in Cairo.

According to an Israeli defense official quoted by The Jerusalem Post, "The negotiations depend on the Egyptians."  Government envoy Ofer Dekel, who successfully conducted German-mediatred negotiations with Hizbullah terrorists for the return of the bodies of kidnapped and murdered IDF reservists Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev, travels to Cairo this week to begin talks with Hamas for Shalit.

Dekel was a former deputy director of the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet).
