Comptroller Hearings on Wiretaps Begin Next Week Reported: 09:28 AM - Jul/18/08
(IsraelNN.com) State Comptroller, Judge (ret.) Micha Lindenstrauss will begin hearing witnesses in the matter of the wiretaps in the Chaim Ramon case next week. Ramon was convicted for indecent behavior in connection with a kiss he gave a female soldier when the Vice Premier was Justice Minister. The cabinet sent the matter to the comptroller after it was questioned if police had carried out the wiretaps by the book. The first witness will be the head of the Telephone Monitoring Department in the Police's national headquarters, Chief Superintendent Gadi Siso. Among the first witnesses will be Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann, Ramon and the head of the Investigations and Intelligence Department in the Police, Maj.-Gen. Yochanan Danino. Additional witnesses whom the comptroller intends to summon include the Minister for Public Security Avi Dichter, Police Commissioner Dudi Cohen and his predecessor Moshe Karadi, as well as the former head of the police's Investigations Department, Maj.-Gen. (ret.) Moshe Mizrachi and Brig.-Gen. (ret.)
