Students Furious over Ban from Knesset Hearings

Students are furious over the government's violating a previous agreement and omitting them from being invited to attend a Knesset Education Committee hearing Sunday on the Shochat education reform package. One of the stipulations to the end of the student strike last year was that the students would take part in talks on the reform, which drastically affect the size of classes and the number of teachers.

Education Minister Yuli Tamir (Labor) Friday morning backed the student's demand and said that a misunderstanding on procedures might have been the reason for the omission. She said she has asked Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to invite the students, who threatened to resume sanctions.
