Analysis: Middle East Moving from Violence to Talks

Israel's mediated talks with Hamas, Hizbullah, followed by the Bush administration's agreement to send a high-ranking diplomat to attend talks in Iran, indicate a move from violence to talks, according to TheNew York Times. The newspaper reported Friday morning the "hints of a new approach… are fueling hopes of at least short-term stability for the first time since the invasion of Iraq in 2003."

The article by journalist Michael Slackman stated that the United States and Israel are giving up on trying to defeat their enemies, who also are realizing that tensions are not helping their economic problems.
