(IsraelNN.com) The funeral of Master Sergeant Eldad Regev has begun in the Military Section of the Haifa Cemetery. Thousands of mourners from across the country have arrived to escort the fallen soldier to his resting place.

Regev’s flag-draped coffin will be borne by an honor guard of his fellow soldiers from his reserve infantry battalion. Maj. Giora Be’eri, his company commander, stated this morning that “it was obvious to all of us that we would bring him home.”

The funeral is being attended by IDF generals, IDF Chief Rabbi Brig. Gen. Avi Ronsky, Defense Minister Ehud Barak (Labor), and the Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Shlomo Amar.
