Rising Fuel Costs Squeeze IAF
According to a report in Defense News, the rising costs of fuel and the depreciation of the US dollar are costing the Israeli Air Force dearly. In comparison with other air forces worldwide, the IAF’s high tempo of operations and intensive training schedule are exacerbating this difficulty.
The IAF currently uses a large portion of military aid from the US to purchase expensive aviation-grade fuel for its fleet of approximately 1,000 airplanes and helicopters in bases across the country.
