It has been cleared for release that a joint Israel Security Agency-Israel Police investigation has been opened against Maj. Gen. (ret.) Eli Zeira, former chief of IDF Military Intelligence during the 1973 Yom Kippur War. The principal charge is “revealing state secrets”, according to Army Radio.

Maj. Gen. (ret.) Zeira was responsible for intelligence assessments that Egypt and Syria would not attack (in spite of evidence to the contrary), known as “the Concept”. Following the war, Zeira was deemed partially responsible by the Agranat Commission and left the IDF.
