Arad’s Family Believes Hizbullah Has More Information

Pictures and diary pages recently relayed to Israel by Hizbullah have revealed more of the heroic and tragic aspects surrounding the capture and imprisonment of IAF navigator Ron Arad. Arad’s family and Israeli intelligence have received pieces of a diary the captured airman managed to keep in captivity. Arad’s diary is full of physical and emotional distress; the writings focus on his distress for his family left behind.

In the pictures, Arad’s left shoulder is shrugged, presumably due to an injury sustained during his ejection from his downed F-4 Phantom plane.  Persian writing on wall hangings in the background of the pictures has lead experts to believe they were taken in the advanced medical clinic operated by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps in the central Lebanese city of Baalbek at the time of Arad’s capture, if not someplace in Iran.

Rami Igra, the former Mossad officer assigned to find Arad, believes the Hizbullah terrorist organization has more information and noted that only increasing pressure has caused “revelations” by the group until now. In an interview to Channel 10 News, Yuval Arad, Ron’s daughter, refuses to give in and has sworn to continue the efforts to discover what happened to her father.

The proposed ransom deal with Hizbullah pre-conditioned the terrorist organization’s transferrance of definitive information regarding Arad’s whereabout’s and current status.
