(IsraelNN.com) Former Police Commissioner and Air Force commander Yaakov Turner announced Monday morning he is running for re-election as mayor of Be'er Sheva, a position he has held for 10 years. He previously said he was considering retiring. One of his opponents is Deputy Mayor Rubik Znilowitz, who announced last Friday he was quitting his position.

Turner was a pilot in the Yom Kippur War. He founded the outdoor Israeli Air Force museum at the Hatzerim base, five miles east of Be'er Sheva.
