Ceremony Marks 32 Years Since Yoni's Death Reported: 11:06 AM - Jul/11/08
(IsraelNN.com) Relatives and friends of Yehonatan "Yoni" Netanyahu, the legendary soldier who led the Entebbe raid, marked 32 years since he was killed during that raid in a ceremony at Har Herzl Thursday. Among those who gathered at Yoni's grave was his brother, opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu. Former IDF Chief Rabbi Brig.-Gen. (res.) Yisrael Weiss, who was a close friend of Yoni's, said at the ceremony: "It has been years since Yoni was taken away from us, and I still feel as though my heart has been torn from my chest." Until the moment when he learned of his death, he said, "Yoni was the incarnation of beauty in my eyes. Like a giant painting in its perfection." That moment, Weiss said, "crushed my world into smithereens. It was a moment of passage from life to death, from hope to despair, from sunrise to sunset, from a great light to endless darkness." ![]() Check out the Chill Zone - Funny, Entertaining Videos © IsraelNN Syndications - This article may not be republished freely.
