Former Israeli Foreign Ministry Director Alon Liel told Israel National News that Syria is taking a chance by negotiating with Israel. "Ahmadinejad can tell the Syrians – 'if you talk with Olmert I am sick and tired of you,'" he explained.
Liel, from the Movement for Israeli-Syrian Peace, said that the Syrian leadership has decided to change directions because it decided that "the direction in which they have been operating until now was wrong."
Israel, he said, does not ask that Syria cut off diplomatic ties with Iran, but that it cease its strategic-security cooperation with Tehran.
