State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss will investigate alleged wrongdoing by the police and prosecution in the matter of the wiretaps against Vice Prime Minister Chaim Ramon, the government decided Sunday.
The comptroller will receive far-reaching authority in the probe.
The compromise was suggested by Labor and supported by Shas. All of the ministers present at the debate voted in favor of the idea except for Public Security Minister Avi Dichter who said the debate had been a disgrace to the government.
