A compromise solution has been floated in the stormy government on establishing a committee of inquiry into wiretaps made against Chaim Ramon when he was Justice Minister.

The suggestion is to transfer the matter into the hands of the State Comptroller, and to give him broad authority to investigate the matter. Shas will apparently support this deal.
