According to The Jerusalem Post, Fatah-PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas's office said that President Shimon Peres called Abbas on Sunday and denied a report in which he was quoted as saying a peace agreement with the PA was not possible in the foreseeable future.

According to the original report in Ha'aretz, Peres had said that Abbas had lost his legitimacy and, as a result, it would be impossible to come to a peace agreement with him.
