Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, spiritual leader of Shas, will probably be the one who decides whether or not the government votes to establish a powerful committee of inquiry in the matter of the wiretaps conducted against Vice Prime Minister Chaim Ramon.
Deputy Prime Minister and Shas Chairman Eli Yishai said at the opening of Sunday's session that he intended to hear both sides and then call Rabbi Ovadia, "and he will decide in the matter."
A senior source in Shas told Ynet that while the party's ministers' tendency is to vote in favor of the decision, if they see that a majority opposes the matter they may abstain.
