Syria has accused Israel of a series of human rights violations in the Golan Heights.

In a formal letter of complaint to the United Nations, Damascus said Israel disposes of radioactive waste in the area, encourages Druze residents of the area to emigrate, expropriates land and has confiscated the identification cards of Druze students that have left the area to study in Syria. The complaint also says that Israeli-planted land mines routinely explode in the area.

Jerusalem has yet to respond to the accusations.
