Nina Keren, the 82-year-old mother of murder victim Danny Haran, has bitterly complained to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert that he is freeing a "monster" by agreeing to release Lebanese terrorist Samir Kuntar. He brutally murdered her son 29 years ago. "How can they free this monster and turn him into Lebanon's new hero?" she lamented.
Kuntar was sentenced to four life sentences for the deaths of Haran, Haran's two daughters and a policeman during a terrorist raid on Naharia in 1979. Keren generally has not spoken to the media since the murder but broke her silence in an interview with the Hebrew newspaper Ma'ariv. "What kind of message is this for soldiers and citizens?" she asked. "He [Kuntar] never expressed regret, and what about Gilad Shalit? They have forgotten Shalit. What is going to happen to him?"
