A foundation started by filmmaker Stephen Spielberg is granting $1 million to the National Museum of American Jewish History's new five-story building in Philadelphia. Officials said the contribution from the Righteous Persons Foundation puts the campaign fund for the new museum at $111 million, $39 million short of the goal.
The organization has set 2010 as the target date for opening the museum, which was established in 1976 to relate the story of American Jews.
