More than two-thirds of the public think that the deal in which Israel agreed to free Lebanese terrorist Samir Kuntar for kidnapped IDF soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev, who are thought to be dead, would not have been accomplished without the media campaign. The poll was carried by Panorama for the It's All Talk radio program.
Most Israeli Hebrew newspapers and Voice of Israel government radio promoted the negotiations by constantly interviewing families of the kidnapped soldiers and emphasizing their emotional turmoil.
The media barely interviewed families of fallen soldiers who objected to the agreement to release terrorists for the probably return of the remains of dead troops.
