A farewell party is begin held Thursday for departing American Ambassador to Israel Richard Jones, who will be replaced by James Cunningham. Jones official leaves his post in eight days, but Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni will say goodbye at a farewell reception Thursday afternoon.
Cunningham is to arrive in mid-August and was the American consul general in Hong Kong. Unlike most predecessors, he does not have expertise in the Middle East.
