Syria might reconsider its ties with Iran and does not agree with Tehran on all issues, according to the Arab newspaper a-Sharq il-Awsat. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has stated that peace with Syria is contingent on its breaking away from Iran and Hizbullah.
The newspaper quoted French sources that Iraq is the main bone of contention because Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime opposes Iranian influence in the embattled country.
