(IsraelNN.com) Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak promised visiting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert late Tuesday morning he will make every effort possible to help free kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. Prime Minister Olmert is talking with the Egyptian president at this hour at the resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh.

Egypt mediated last week's temporary ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, but each side has offered contradictory interpretations considering when the soldier will be freed. The Prime Minister earlier in the day warned that Israel would consider the truce a failure if Gaza terrorists continue to smuggle weapons.
