Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) are trying to convince Latin America that the Durban human rights committee meeting, scheduled for next January, should focus on treatment of Arabs as the most important human rights issue. Letters from NGOs active in the Boycott, Sanctions and Divestment campaign ignore trafficking of humans in Cuba and abuse of civil rights in Venezuela, Haiti and other countries.
The letter campaign promotes the "right of return," the use by Arabs of the phrase coined by Israel for the right of Jews to move to the Jewish state as Israeli citizens. Arabs have used the term to demand the right of more than five million Arabs, claiming to be descendants of Israeli-born Arabs, to immigrate to the country. The letter also refers to Israel "as the world’s last state-sponsored colonial apartheid regime."
