Germany’s Comptroller of Accounts (an independent Federal office whose responsibilities include examining the finances of the German government), is reported to be considering an investigation into the Claims Conference Against Germany, the Jewish organization set up to return property stolen in the Nazi-era and to compensate Holocaust survivors.
Due to the efforts of the Claims Conference, at least half a million survivors have received approximately $60 billion in various benefits and more than 600 million Euros have been returned to owners whose property was stolen during the Holocaust.
